Enjoy the magnificent panoramic view out over the city and rugged coastline while viewing the continent's most easterly point in the distance.  Learn about the site's 18th century battles and 20th century aviation wonders from our leaders and the exhibits of this historic site.  Life Magazine tells us that Signal Hill also gave birth to the Information Age. During the hike you will view a geological fault and dramatic sea cliffs, walk through a colorful fishing village - the Battery – and wind your way to the New World's oldest street.  From here, you stroll past the birthplace of the British Empire on your way back to the ship.

This is a hiking and walking tour over a well-established pathway that is uneven and rocky at times.  There is a short ride on a local school bus to gain access to the start of the trail high atop Signal Hill.  From here, your guides will provide commentary about the flowers, geology, and history of the site during your walk.  The whole walk is one giant photo opportunity featuring dramatic seacliffs, coastal vistas, and panoramic views of the New World's first port.  Good walking footwear and clothing are required. Some sections of the trail are narrow and adjacent to steep drops. This may be a concern for persons with a fear of heights. People with vertigo should not take this hike.
