DAY 1 | 25 February 2018 - UK to Longyearbyen

Depart from London Heathrow to arrive in Longyearbyen via Oslo.

DAY 2 | 26 February 2018 - Longyearbyen

On arrival in Longyearbyen airport, you'll be transferred to the Coal Miner's Cabins for your 5 night stay. Your first workshop will start in the morning and is titled “Understanding and setting up your camera”. This will include choosing the best settings to photograph the Northern Lights and preparing for photographing in the cold. After a lunch break, we will gather for a composition and landscape photography workshop then you can enjoy the free time in the evening to take in the crisp clean air and familiarise yourself with your new surroundings.

DAY 3 | 27 February 2018 - Longyearbyen

Early in the morning, you will meet outside the hotel for an exciting snowcat trip - you won't miss the big red snowcat when it arrives to pick you up to take you out of town, into the darkness and over the frozen Advent Valley. Your guides will make several stops en route to look for the aurora borealis and will take you along the best route based on the weather and conditions. As you experience being in the dark in the Arctic, your guide will explain how the aurora is formed, serve hot drinks and share stories about the area, while you keep your eyes to the sky. Experience the feeling of standing in the impressive darkness, and enjoy the lights in the sky, and those of Longyearbyen. After such an adventurous trip, you will have an afternoon and evening free to recover and browse through your photos that you have taken on this experience.

DAY 4 | 28 February 2018 - Longyearbyen

After breakfast, there will be an opportunity to have an image view and a personal/group tuition that will address any photography questions. Afterwards, you'll be able to enjoy an outdoor workshop with Chris concentrating on lowlight shooting around the town. In the evening there is another opportunity to have an image viewing and tuition with Chris to answer any questions that you might have. After dinner, you will meet for another outdoor workshop under the title of “Painting with Lights”

DAY 5 | 1 March 2018 - Longyearbyen

After breakfast, you will have a private guide  pick you up from the hotel and take you on an exclusive excursion to the Ice Caves. Walk through the heart of a glacier and into the crystal world beneath. The light from your headlamp will reveal a glittering terrain with fascinating formations in the frozen walls.

Our guides will meet you with our big red snow-cat, and drive you up onto the Longyearbyen Glacier in this tracked all-terrain vehicle. With headlamps to light the way, you will head into the melt water channels within the glacier -  an experience that will take your breath away. We provide headlights, helmets and experienced guides. You just need to take solid winter shoes, waterproof outdoor clothing and a spirit of adventure. You will need to be of average physical fitness as this excursion is not suitable if you have limited mobility as there is uneven and partly steep terrain. This is also not suitable for those suffering from Claustrophobia and restricted movement.

After such an adventurous trip, you will have an afternoon and evening free to recover and browse through your photos that you have taken on this experience.
