Your incredible day starts with a train journey from either Bergen or Oslo station to Myrdal mountain station, situated 867 metres above sea level.  

There, you’ll transfer to the Flåm Mountain Railway, one of the most beautiful train journeys in the world. For the next hour, you’ll be glued to the window of your vintage train compartment as the train descends the mountain into the valley, passing farmsteads as it follows the river north.   

Before arriving in the village of Flåm, the train will stop at Kjosfossen Waterfall for five minutes, allowing you to disembark onto the platform to take photos.  

Once in Flåm, you’ll have a little time at the Flåm Railway Museum to learn more about how this amazing feat of engineering came to be. 

An electric boat then brings you out onto the waters of Aurlandsfjord for a two-hour cruise around to narrow and UNESCO-protected Nærøyfjord. The mountains that flank the fjords are between 1,400 and 1,600 metres high, creating a truly spectacular landscape.  

We disembark the boat at Gudvangen where a bus meets us to drive us through  Nærøydalen valley. We’ll take the mountain road that leads to Voss where you’ll be able to catch the train back to Bergen or Oslo. 

It truly has been Norway in a nutshell!
