On arrival in Tromsø, you’ll check in at the centrally located Radisson Hotel Blu Tromsø. If there’s time, we recommend taking a stroll around town before you turn in for a good night’s sleep.
Dog sledding through a frozen landscape
Make sure you enjoy the delicious hotel breakfast before meeting up with your guide outside the hotel. After a 25-minute car ride, you’ll be on the verge of a thrilling dog sled adventure, just outside Tromsø city. Enjoy the exhilarating feeling as energetic huskies pull you over the frozen landscape. After about an hour of dog sledding, you’ll enjoy a traditional cooked Sámi meal, followed by coffee and homemade cake – all served around an open fire in a Sami tent or lavvo.
Dinner under the Northern Lights
Later in the evening, we’ll meet up again and take a ride up the city’s famous cable car with breathtaking views of Tromsø. Away from any light pollution, this is the perfect spot for seeing the Northern Lights (if the weather allows it). Enjoy a delicious three-course dinner in a mountain lodge and learn more about the mesmerising light displays of the aurora borealis, Tromsø and the surrounding area.
Explore the town on your own
Enjoy another hearty breakfast before you check out of your hotel. You’ll have some time on your own to discover more of Tromsø in the morning before we experience the last organised adventure on this trip. There’s plenty to see in the Arctic Capital; just follow the dock 200 m north from your hotel to visit the Polar Museum, or walk in 1 km in the other direction for 1 km to visit MS Polarstjerna – a seal hunting vessel museum. Here you’ll also find Polaria, an Arctic experience centre. Please note that these options are not included in your package, and entrance fees may apply. We also recommend taking a stroll through the city streets and trying one of the city’s many good cafés and lunch spots.
Whale safari and cross-country skiing
Get ready for an amazing finale to your three-day adventure! Depending on what time of the year you visit Tromsø, we have adjusted the activities to suit the season.
In December and January, we will take you on a short bus ride outside Tromsø, where the majestic mountains rising out of the still waters create a beautiful scenic backdrop for a silent whale safari. From your sailing boat, you might see humpback whales swimming gracefully by but the only thing you’ll hear is the sound of whales surfacing and spraying water from their blowholes.
In February and March, we’ll take you on a fantastic introduction to cross-country skiing. Once you’ve picked up a few basic techniques from our experienced ski instructors, we will take you skiing across flat terrain. Take in the stunning scenery as you ski along the top of Tromsø Island.
No matter which excursion you take part in, Tromsø and its local surroundings will leave its mark on you.
2 nights’ hotel accommodation with breakfast; guides and transfers on all excursions; lunch, coffee, homemade cake and outdoor clothes at the Wilderness Centre; 3-course dinner on the Aurora Safari; light snack, hot drinks and warm overalls with a built-in flotation device is provided on Silent Whale Exploring; cross-country skis, ski boots and poles, hot drink and light snack on cross-country ski excursion.
The Aurora Safari and dinner by cable car excursion cannot run if the wind is more than 20 m/s. There’s a 12-year minimum age requirement for cross-country skiing. Warm winter clothes and shoes must be brought for the excursions. For cross-country skiing, height and shoe size must be collected when booking.
