Take a step back in time and explore the beautiful and unique island of Sark by horse drawn carriage. Depart Guernsey with your Guide for a 50-minute ferry journey to Sark where you will be transported to the top of ‘Harbour Hill’ by a tractor pulled passenger bus, known locally as ‘The Toast Rack’.Once at the top of Harbour Hill you will board your horse drawn carriage for a tour of Sark, taking in the wonderful sights of this island which has no cars, an area of just 5.45 square kilometres and a residential population of just 550 people.
During the carriage ride you will visit the famous La Seigneurie Gardens, the award winning and Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) recognized walled gardens which include a maze, a restored Victorian greenhouse and a large collection of flowers and shrubs. A family home of the late Dame of Sark. La Seigneurie has been the home of the island’s rulers since 1730. Also at La Seigneurie Gardens is the newly restored 'Chapel' building which is now home to a fascinating exhibition telling the history of La Seigneurie and Sark's Seigneur s and Dames.
Continue the tour at a lazy trot, past granite farmhouses and green pastures. The carriage will then bring you back to the top of harbour hill. Enjoy some leisure time for shopping at the potteries, silver and glassware shops along ‘The Avenue’ or a spot of lunch (not included). Take a leisurely walk down or join the “Toast Rack” to La Maseline harbour to board your ferry for the 50-minute journey back to Guernsey.
