A local guide will meet us at the harbour and give an introduction to the small and charming capital of the Falkland’s. As the coach drives down Ross Road, the main street that runs along the sea front, the guide will point out points of interest. See the Cathedral with its Whale Bone Arch, the 1982 Battle Memorial, wrecks of old sailing ships, a private whalebone display, Stanley Airport, Government House, the Community School and the Mizzen Mast from the famous ‘SS Great Britain’. The stories will provide entertaining and additional insight about the Falklands’ Heritage and social habits and economy.
Stunning views, a shipwreck and maritime history
We also drive out of town to see the stunning views of Stanley from the bottom of the harbour and the shipwreck the Lady Elizabeth. Various species of flora and fauna can also be seen on this tour, including the upland goose and flightless steamer duck. Finally you have the opportunity to visit the Museum at Britannia House to learn all about the Falklands’ interesting maritime history and other aspects of the local history before returning to the ship or the drop off point at the Jetty Visitors Centre.
