Join an amazing adventure to the Tempelfjord, where the Tuna Glacier lies frozen into the sea ice. The tour begins with a thorough briefing on snowmobiling and the areas we will visit before we are ready start. The trip begins in Longyearbyen itself, and the first stretch is through the wide Adventdalen, before we make our way into more interesting terrain. Once we arrive at Fredheim, an old trapper’s station, we will continue out on the fjord ice towards the soaring ice wall of the Tuna glacier
See a glacier that is frozen into the ice
We drive up towards the ragged glacier face of the Tuna and Von Post glacier that is frozen in the ice covered sea. In front of the towering walls of blue ice, the frozen fjord stretches towards the Tempel Mountain. Ring seals sunbathe on the ice here, and Polar bears are not uncommon! Enjoy an expedition lunch while the guide explains and demonstrates different hunting techniques to help you imagine life as a lonely hunter in the Arctic, before returning to civilization.
