The tour begins with a visit to the Milodon Cave, a natural monument located on Benitez Hill, 25 kilometers from Puerto Natales. We drive for 17 km along Route 9, commonly called Natales-Bories, until we reach Miledón-Cerro Castillo. From this point we drive on gravel and end up in the parking lot of the Natural Monument.
Inside the cave, discovered in 1895, we'll find remains of extinct animals like Sabre Toothed Tiger, American Horse and a large mammal known as Milodon.
On the site we have to walk for half an hour to go into the cave and observe the stalactites, places where the remains and a replica of Milodon were found. It is possible to admire the vegetation around the area, a landscape that is somewhere between steppe and forest, and observe typical trees like Ñire or shrubs such as Calafate or Romerillo.
