PlanaSub or AquaSub is a uniquely different approach to snorkelling that was invented at Fernando do Noronha. The visibility in the water here is exceptionally good and the chances for spotting marine life excellent.
We head out from the port of San Antonio in typical trawler-style boats that are used to tow the Plana Subs, known also as “submarine flight”. Equipped with snorkel and diving goggles, you jump into the sea and hold tight to the PlanaSub board that is attached to the boat by cable and towed at low speed. You experience the sensation of flying through the water, and by changing the angle of the board, you dive up and down below the surface while observing Fernando Do Noronha´s amazing sea life.
Each boat takes a maximum 12 persons and instructions are given prior to getting into the water. Participants take turns being pulled and 4-6 persons are in the water at the same time.
The excursion visits islands and places near San Antonio, including Morro da Conceição, Beach Biboca, Lion Roar and the “sinking of the port”.
