We depart from the pier and head towards the beach resorts of El Laucho and La Lisera. This is a slow and scenic drive so we can take pictures and enjoy the beautiful views. Upon arriving at El Morro de Arica viewpoint, we disembark to enjoy the panoramic view of the city, ocean and port. This site was an important strategic location for the Chilean military during the War of the Pacific (1879-1883).
We then proceed south along the coastal road to Corazones/Anzata, where we begin our coastal walk up sandy hills. Most of the walk traverses the sides of sandy mountains, but includes passing through caves, caverns and other spectacular sites. The trek eventually leads us to Puntilla, where we observe sea lions and many local birds from a short distance. After spending time relaxing, taking pictures and breathing the ocean air, we walk back to the buses and return to the pier.
There is an optional drop off point at the main entrance of the port area.
