The Atlantic Road zigzags across bridges and rock-fills from island to island right out at the ocean's edge. The trip covers 8.2 kilometres, crosses a total of eight bridges and winds through a stunning coastal landscape. In bad weather, big waves break right beside the road – and sometimes across it.
One of Norway’s most visited tourist destinations
The Atlantic road won the “Engineering Feat of the Century” prize in 2005. On your way along it, you will visit Kvernes Stave Church, beautifully located on Averøy. It was built in the first part of the 13th century and is brimming with unique historic ornamental artefacts.
Try local delicacies
At “Bjartmars Favorittkro” you will be served the specialty of the house, “Bacalao,” made from local ingredients and served with fresh bread. A scrumptious caramel pudding and a cup of coffee/ tea rounds off the meal before we continue along the Atlantic Road. The tour ends with a short sightseeing tour of Molde.
