The dramatic landscape in Ulstein has been moulded by ocean and ice, and consists of long and sandy beaches, flat lowlands and steep mountainsides. With the Atlantic in the west, Ulstein creates a natural gateway to the fjords further east, and as far west as you can go on the mainland, you find the village Flø, with its long beaches under massive cliffs.
Beautiful nature with varied and fascinating wildlife and history
The area has strong traditions in shipbuilding, and today Ulstein is home to some of the world's largest shipyards, such as Ulstein Shipyard, Kleven Shipyard and Rolls-Royce Commercial Marine. On this excursion our main focus will be the diversity of the municipality centre, Ulsteinvik, and its culture and daily life and not ship building. During this tour we will take you around Ulsteinvik and the surroundings, where a local guide will give you insight into the region's past, present and future.
