A tender boat takes you to the bottom of the fjord and the tiny village of Urke, surrounded by the spectacular peaks of the Sunnmøre Alps. From here the excursion continues by bus. Your guide will entertain you with historical facts and funny anecdotes as you pass through Norangsdalen, also known as the “Narrowest valley in Norway”. The place is rich in dramatic scenery as well as cultural heritage. Enjoy several breaks during the trip to explore and take photos. One of these stops is at a lake known as Lyngstølvatnet, formed by a rock fall from Keipen in 1908. Beneath the waters of the lake, you can still see remains of the old road, the foundations of the farmhouses and the gateway.
Sights that have fascinated visitors for centuries
Continuing on to the historic Hotel Union Øye we pass through beautiful landscapes and have a taste of local specialties. After the visit, the bus takes you back to Urke, where you can explore the village, visit the local grocer or pub and learn more about its history. This area has fascinated visitors for centuries, and this excursion will show you why.
