The tour entails an easy hike along the coastal path that once connected the two small fishing communities of Bakers Brook and Green Point. The trail takes us over cobble beaches and through short but dense coastal forests known locally as “tuckamore”. It’s a perfect hike for enjoying coastal landscapes, ocean air and gentle views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Tuckamore is the Newfoundland word for the stunted trees that grow along the coast and in alpine areas. Frost and wind nip back the trees’ exposed branches, sculpting their wind-swept profiles.
