South Greenland is a unique part of Greenland, with great contrasts between chilly glaciers and green valleys. Qaqortoq is often described as the most beautiful town in Greenland, with a picturesque setting between the fjord and the lake and most of the colourful houses here have “million dollar views”. Qaqortoq is best seen on foot, which does say something about the size of Greenlandic towns considering Qaqortoq is the largest in Southern Greenland.
Happy in the great Arctic outdoors
Hiking in Greenland induces a sense of freedom that is unparalleled. There are no stressful schedules, no crowded places or noise - just a mighty nature that has been unaltered by humans, a nature that has been the same for several thousands of years. This scenic hike takes you through the town Qaqortoq and then leads to the great lake that serves as a recreational area for the people living here. You will follow hiking trails that are flanked by bold rock formations and purple Arctic flowers, around the lake that is beautifully embedded in the surrounding hills.
