This delightful tour allows you to not only experience the charming atmosphere of A Coruña, but its lively Galician food culture as well. The guided tour starts from the pier by bus for a panoramic view of the city. A Coruña is known as the “City of Glass” and at Marina Avenue you will appreciate the magnificent glass galleries - glass structures from the 19th century built to enjoy as many hours of sunlight as possible. On the tour we pass Castel San Anton, which was originally built in the 16th century for people suffering from contagious diseases.
A guided trip to Tower of Hercules and then a taste of tapas
We stop at the city’s most important monument, the Tower of Hercules, recently declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This old lighthouse dates back to Roman times and is still fully operational. Afterwards the bus drops you off near the Town Hall for a walk in the old part of the city. At Maria Pita Square, named after the lady who defeated Sir Francis Drake, you can enjoy the architectural sights in the heart of the city. As you walk through the narrow streets your guide will reveal more of the city’s interesting past. Then you will have the opportunity to taste local tapas, typically made with fresh seafood and ham, accompanied by the best wines in Galicia, Albariño or Ribeiro. After your visit to the tavern (tapas bar), your guide will escort you back to the pier.
