After a one-hour drive passing through typical Flemish countryside, you arrive at the medieval city of Ghent. This is a dynamic metropolis with a city centre straight out of the Middle Ages.
Your guided walking tour starts at the bottom of St. Michael's bridge. On top of St. Michael's bridge you have an impressive view of the historic city centre. From here you can see the old port with gabled guild houses, the age-old castle of the Counts and the famous "Row of Three Towers”, St. Nicholas Church, the Belfry tower and St. Bavo's Cathedral. We then pass the old port, the Meat House and City Hall to reach St. Bavo's Cathedral.
The highlight of this tour is the visit to a chocolate factory. A Belgian chocolate maker will show you how raw chocolate bars are made into fine Belgian chocolates using only the very freshest and best carefully selected ingredients. Afterwards, there is time to buy some world famous Belgian chocolates.
Following the visit to the chocolate factory there is free time (approximately 45 minutes) for shopping. After this, the coach takes you back to the ship.
