The itinerary

Hurtigruten offers unique expedition cruises to some of the most remote and pristine waters of the world. As with all expeditions; nature prevails. Weather, ice and sea conditions set the final framework for all Hurtigruten’s operations. Safety and unparalleled guest experiences are at all times our top priorities. All our indicative itineraries are continuously evaluated for adaptions, whether this is due to constraints the elements unexpectedly present – or exciting possibilities nature and wildlife offer. That is why we call it an expedition.

A Most Unusual Christmas

Enjoy a truly unique Christmas Norway cruise!  Join us as we sail from Bergen to Tromsø, visiting inviting towns and villages dressed in their finest Christmas lights while scouting for the Northern Lights.

Bring your warmest clothing to enjoy the bracing Arctic outdoors. This is the far north, and we hope for clear conditions, but it may also at times be snowing heavily.

 Arctic Circle Celebration

We start with a visit to Ålesund and Trondheim to enjoy strolling through the festive city streets. Then we sail across the Arctic Circle, enjoying Christmas morning onboard as we make our way to Lofoten.

We arrive in Reine to enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the peace of lovely Lofoten. Enjoy strolling through the village before enjoying a delicious Norwegian Christmas dinner on the ship. We will savour great food and great company and you’ll learn about Norwegian Christmas traditions.

Magical Northern Light

Next, we call on Narvik and Alta. Both towns offer a range of options for winter activities and great scenery to enjoy. The Arctic light is magical, and we will make sure to enjoy the brief daylight. As evening falls, we will hunt for Northern Lights from deck and from shore on this special Norway holiday.
