Explore five of Norway’s most beautiful fjords on this springtime expedition cruise, sailing direct to the stunning Norwegian coast from Dover. Being spring, the fjords will be quieter, the flowers in bloom, and the mountain tops frosted with snow. You’ll also see waterfalls in all their glory, in full flow from freshly melted winter snow.
Norway’s exceptional fjords
We start in the lush valleys of Hardangerfjord, home to the prettiest apple orchards in Norway. Next, we will visit Sognefjord with its idyllic fjord villages and stave churches. Explore magnificent Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord, both UNESCO-listed World Heritage Sites and outstanding examples of dramatic fjordal features and landscapes. You will experience thrills in Nordfjord, with its high peaks and glaciers. We will then spend a day discovering the untamed nature on the remote island archipelago of Værlandet in total contrast to the fjords, before capping off our spectacular fjord adventure at Lysefjord, where the iconic Preikestolen viewpoint awaits.
Spring is in the air
The fjords are magical in any season. On this springtime expedition cruise, we witness the fjords waking up from the long winter months. The days grow longer and the sun warms the air. Snow still covers the mountains, but as it begins to thaw, meltwater gushes down rock faces powering beautiful waterfalls and adding a deep colour to rivers. Down in the valleys, pastures are green, fruit trees are in bloom, and the idyllic fjord villages emerge from hibernation.
