Arild Kaale

When did you first catch the spirit of adventure?
I was an exchange student in the U.S. back in the 1990s, and travelled around a lot while I was there. Experiencing all the small, hidden gems in that enormous country really sparked the fire for adventures later in my life.

What is your happiest memory from a shore excursion?
I lived in Bangladesh with my family for three years and we took home many wonderful memories from travelling throughout the country. I especially remember a trip to the tea gardens in the north, taking in the mesmerising view of the Himalayas for the first time.

What are the most important lesson you have learned from travelling?
Respect the local culture and the people where you go, and they will respect you back. A smile and a keen interest for people and places will bring you a lot of new friends.
