Starting in Kirkenes, experience the flavour and magic of Lapland by combining your voyage with this fascinating trip into Northern Finland. This itinerary introduces you to the natural and cultural diversity of the Sami, the largest indigenous group in Europe.
Our four day visit to Finnish Lapland starts at Kirkenes. The drive to Inari takes us through a stunning landscape of cascading waterfalls and rich salmon rivers, after Utsjoki you will pass the Sami Bridge that connects Norway with Finland. We arrive at our hotel early evening, after a journey of 5-6 hours.
During your stay you will visit SIIDA – Sami Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centrewhich contains a wealth of exhibits highlighting the region’s cultural and environmental diversity. You will also visit a reindeer farm, where you learn something of the life and farming techniques of the reindeer herders. Optional excursions, such as lake cruising, fishing, hiking and canoeing, are also available.
Departing Inari in the morning we head back towards Kirkenes, driving along a scenic highway that passes a captivating vista of glistening lakes. In the Skolt Sami region we will learn something of the life and history of these distinctive people and visit a Skolt Sami tradition house before completing our journey back in mainland Norway’s most remote outpost, on the edge of the Varanger Fjord.

Price includes: Transfers and excursions as described with an English speaking guide or driver/guide depending on passenger numbers, accommodation at Hotel Inari Kultahovi for three nights including breakfast. Inari Lake Cruise
Cruise on Lake Inari which is a beautiful wilderness lake and the 6th largest lake in Europe. The lake has 3318 islands, one of which you will visit, on the island of “Ukko” you will see the ancient sacrificial site of the Inari Samis.
