A Taste of The Arctic 2013

A journey from Bergen to Tromsø or from Tromsø to Bergen gives you a taste of the Arctic. Depending on which direction you choose to sail, you will experience many of the highlights of a Classic Round Voyage including sailing through the beautiful Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands, the Seven Sisters mountains and visits to fascinating towns such as Bergen, Tromsø, Ålesund and Trondheim.

Itineraries

BERGEN - TROMSØ ITINERARY

DAY 1  Embarkation in Bergen

Take time to explore Bergen before departing and leaving your everyday life behind. It’s time to relax and look forward to a wonderful journey along the iconic Norwegian coast. (D)

DAY 2 Ålesund

We navigate through the skerries and islands, making several brief night time
calls along the coastline. When we reach Ålesund, the town renowned for its beautiful Art Nouveau architecture, there is time to explore this charming town. (B,D)

DAY 3 The royal city of Trondheim

Our first call of the day is Trondheim, home to the impressive Nidaros Cathedral, Scandinavia’s largest medieval building. This very walkable city is well worth discovering. (B,D)

DAY 4 Arctic Circle and Lofoten Islands

Crossing the Arctic Circle is one of the highlights on this journey. The Lofoten Islands are renowned for their small fishing villages surrounded by majestic granite cliffs and white sandy beaches. (B,D)

DAY 5 Tromsø, The Gateway to the Arctic

During the night we sail through the spectacular and narrow Raftsund and past the Trollfjord. In the afternoon we arrive in your final port, Tromsø, the Gateway to the Arctic. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight stay. (B)

DAY 6 Tromsø

Enjoy free time to explore Tromsø or take part in one of our winter excursions. (B)

TROMSØ – BERGEN ITINERARY

DAY 1 Tromsø, The Gateway to the Arctic

Enjoy the lively town Tromsø and maybe an Arctic beer from the northernmost brewery
in the world. You can also take part in one of the optional winter excursions. After embarkation your ship will head south towards the Lofoten and Vesterålen islands.

DAY 2 Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands

Passing through the Lofoten Islands the ship negotiates a stunning network of inlets and isles. We will also pass through the narrow channel between Vesterålen and the Lofoten Islands, known as the Raftsund. (B,D)

DAY 3 Arctic Circle, Seven Sisters

Today we cross the Arctic Circle and can enjoy the impressive view of the Seven Sisters mountains that loom over the majestic Helgeland coast. (B,D)

DAY 4 Trondheim and Kristiansund

We arrive in Trondheim in the morning where you have the chance to visit the famous Nidaros Cathedral or take a stroll through the old town with its picturesque wooden buildings. (B,D)

DAY 5 Bergen, disembarkation

Today your journey with Hurtigruten has come to an end, but before we reach the finish line there are still a few nautical miles of fascinating winter scenery ahead of us. We reach Bergen in the afternoon where you disembark. (B)
