Arrive in Oslo and stay overnight in Norway’s largest city and capital since 1814. Offering some 50 museums and many art galleries, Oslo is also home to internationally known attractions including the Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Viking Ship Museum, the Munch Museum and Holmenkollen.
Drive through the Gulbrandsdal to Ådalsnes and via theTrollstigen mountain road. With deep mountain sides this is one of the most renowned roads in Norway. On the Trollstigen (The Trolls’ Path), navigate hairpin bends as you climb to Stigøra then continue to Geiranger along the spectacular Eagle road. Stay overnight in Geiranger.
Drive-up to the Dalsnibba Mountain Plateau, 1,500 metresabove sea level with stunning views of the surrounding mountain area and the Geiranger fjord. Continue to the architectural jewel Ålesund, burned to the ground in 1904 the timber buildings were replaced in an attractive Art Nouveau style. At midnight join your Hurtigruten ship, settle into your cabin and begin your short voyage to Bergen.
During the night, the ship will call at Torvik, Måløy, and Florø. Next morning enjoy some of the spectacular scenery of west Norway including the mouth of Sognefjord, and the beautiful archipelago on the approach to Bergen. Bergen is a UNESCO Cultural Heritage Site and has a delightful natural setting, withseven imposing mountains surrounding it on three sides forming a dramatic backdrop for the rainbow-painted houses that cling all the way down to the waterfront. Leave the ship and stay overnight at a local hotel.
Drive through the Flåm tunnel back to Gudvangen and Voss and enjoy the mountain road via Ulvik to Bruravik before taking the ferry to Brimnes. Arrive in Geilo passing the beautiful Måbødal valley and continue to Geilo where you stay overnight.
Today´s highlight, “Stalheimskleiva”, the steepest road in Norway, which twists and turns up through hairpin bends offering magnificent views of the Sivlefossen and the Stalheimsfossen waterfalls.Afterwards take the ferry via the Nærøyfjord and Sognefjord and continue your drive through a remarkable 24km long tunnel to Flåm, where you stay overnight.
Return to to Oslo and enjoy your last night in Norway’s capital.
Depending on the time of your flight home there may be a last chance to explore Oslo’s bustling streets.
