Hurtigruten in the Autumn

As summer fades the Norwegian coastline shifts from one beautiful season to another. The russets, ochres and rouges of Autumn creep across the landscape as we witness nature prepare for the long winter ahead.

The period of bright colours (16 Sep to 14 Nov)

As summer fades, watch the coastline shift from one beautiful season to another. Along the Norwegian shores the sharp, clear air strengthens the reds, yellows and
oranges which fill the mountain sides, hilltops and woods. Hurtigruten sails on, into the season of clear colours. The first cool evenings summon autumnal colours, as vivid shades of russet, ochre and rouge creep into the broad leaves of the trees. From deck, framed by an icy blue sky, you can see a sprinkling of snow on the highest peaks and all nature seems to have a feeling of expectation. We are entering the blue time.

Why the most beautiful voyage during autumn

Bright colours

The air

Snow
There may be snow on the highest mountains, and in the north.

Lights
The dark period is about to start, with the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.

Killer whales
