From Santiago
7 days, 6 nights
Deep in the heart of the Peruvian Andes, the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu is a magical place. This extension allows us to visit these incredible ruins and spend time in the stunning colonial city of Cusco.
Flying from Santiago, we spend one night in Lima before catching our flight to Cusco. One of the most beautiful and impressive cities in the Americas, Cusco is a treasure to behold, with a unique blend of Inca and Spanish architecture lining the attractive cobbled streets.
We enjoy a classic railway journey into the Sacred Valley, which eventually brings us to the small town of Aguas Caliente, located just below Machu Picchu, on the shores of the Urabamba river. We spend one night here, allowing a full afternoon for a guided tour of the historical monument followed by half a day to spend at leisure, revisiting the ruins and exploring new areas.
Returning to Cusco, we have one full day to discover more of this magnificent colonial city and its fascinating surroundings, before boarding our flight back to Lima, from where our extension ends.
