Join MS Fram on this new itinerary to Antarctica and back in just two weeks. Starting in Buenos Aires, enjoy two nights in this modern metropolis before flying to the world’s most southerly city of Ushuaia. With eight nights on board the ship, five whole days will be spent in Antarctica. Landings in Antarctica will vary from voyage to voyage and largely depend on the weather and ice conditions. Old abandoned whaling stations, idyllic bays filled with ice, rock and penguins will all be on the visiting list. Wherever we land, the experience will be breathtaking and unforgettable.
For your ease and convenience the itinerary described below is based on your South America package and voyage and does not include intercontinental flights. This gives you the flexibility of adding your own flights whether it’s through Hurtigruten, online, through your local travel agent or by using your Airmiles. Flight add-ons costs from £945 per person and a range of free regional connections are available.
Voyage Itinerary
Day 1 – 2
Arrive in Buenos Aires, free time to enjoy the city.
Day 3
Fly to Ushuaia. Embark ship.
Days 4 – 5
Cross the Drake Passage.
Days 5 – 9
In Antarctica. Our landing sites in Antarctica will vary from voyage to voyage. We hope to sail to Deception Island, Lemaire Channel, Port Lockroy, Almirante Brown, Neko Harbour and Petermann Island. We may also try to land on sites like Half Moon Island with its chinstrap penguin rookery and Cuverville Island which has a large gentoo penguin population.
Days 9 – 10
Sail across Drake Passage towards Cape Horn.
Day 11
Arrive in Ushuaia. Optional visit to Tierra del Fuego National Park. Fly to Buenos Aires and stay overnight.
Day 12
Transfer to the airport for your international flight.
Note that departures in January - February 2008 start and end in Santiago, Chile.
