On Wednesday, the BBC broadcast its fantastic new natural history series Frozen Planet. Nearly 7 million viewers around the UK tuned in to see the first episode of this seven-part series about life at the poles. Check out the upcoming episodes here.
The first episode documented the effect of the sun returning to the North Pole after 6 months of darkness. Sir David Attenborough says that the ends of the Earth are as alien to most of us as the surface of another planet. And this is one of the reasons why the show is so popular – viewers are given a glimpse of the unearthly beauty of this frozen, forbidding landscape, they can witness Mother Nature at her most ruthless, and marvel how wildlife survives, thrives and evolves in these unimaginable conditions.Watch the first part of the Frozen Planet online here.
