This voyage aboard the MS Finnmarken encompasses a rich and exciting programme of events that reflect the deep-rooted traditions of Norwegian culture. Sailing from the lovely UNESCO setting of Bergen and up beyond the Arctic Circle to the town of Kirkenes, the voyage is a fascinating fusion of music, dance and folk culture, set against the majestic backdrop of Norway’s magnificent landscapes.
Each day a distinguished collection of folk musicians will perform on board and there will be instrument workshops where you can watch traditional stringed and wind instruments being made. There will also be an array of experts joining us to entertain and educate with a series of talks on Norwegian folk dancing and music, including instructive classes that present an opportunity to take part in some traditional folk dancing.
The itinerary is designed to ensure that guests have an opportunity to enjoy not only the musical programmes, but also Hurtigruten’s fascinating selection of onshore excursions, whilst yoga classes and a folk music bar present the ideal way to relax and unwind.
